Edie Fraser
Business leader, Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist
Edie is Senior Consultant to Diversified Search Odgers Berndtson (DSOB), and part of the Diversity Practice and leading the Washington DC effort for the growth-oriented executive search firm. She is a serial entrepreneur. Prior to joining Diversified, Edie was Founder and CEO of Diversity Best Practices (DBP), a member service for diversity practitioners where she designed the CEO Diversity Leadership program, including the prestigious CEO Diversity Awards. She was publisher of the CEO Magazine, The Diversity Primer and The Diversity Officer. Edie is also the founder of the Business Women's Network (BWN). In addition, Edie founded Best Practices in Corporate Communications (BPCC) and is former President of a PR agency.
NFTE, She supports the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship in Washington (NFTE) and is proud of its initiatives through the years.
Leadership boards and Awards: Edie has won 40 major awards in Diversity and Women's Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Communications. She sits on numerous boards and advisory boards which include: World Affairs Council of Washington and the SCORE Association. She is an advocate of SCORE, living a legacy from her Dad who served as a SCORE officer and volunteer for more than 32 years. Edie won the SCORE Lou Campanelli award. She is on the Advisory Board of Enterprising Women Magazine and his been inducted into the Enterprising Women Hall of Fame. Edie takes pride in having received the Lifetime Achievement award from Diversity Woman Magazine. Edie is on the Advisory Board of Center for Citizen Diplomacy and the newly inducted Harvard Center for Public Diplomacy; the Advisory board of the National Center for International Visitors; and she is on the board of LATINAStyle's Maria Arias Foundation.
Edie is a founding and proud member of the Committee of 200. Edie was on the founding Board of Count-Me-In and Make Mine a $Million. She is on the Leadership board of the Euro-American Women's Council. She has been active and been a Vice Chair of the Women's Senate Network of the DSCC. Edie serves and helped to build the Women's Advisory Board of Office Depot and Inter-Continental Hotels, the eWomen Lifetime Service award. Edie won the highest award possible in the field or communications, the Silver Anvil, for a specialized international campaign on US and Japan communications and trade promotion.
Philanthropy and Giving: Edie co-authored "Do Your Giving While you are Living." A best –seller book, along with Robyn Spizman. Edie produced an earlier book on Women's Entrepreneurship called "Risk to Riches in America." Edie started her career as a Desk Officer for Malawi at the Peace Corps. She lives in Washington with her husband, Joe Oppenheimer.
